About Us

A note from our founder:

Luna was born during a time of incredible change in my life.  It was a time when I felt lost, alone and without any direction.  It was a time of loss, shedding my old self, and pushing through a lot of pain.

I have always had so much love and passion for fashion and fitness, and Luna allowed me to pour myself into combining these two into one world.  To me fashion has always been a way to tell the world who you are.  (Fun fact: I designed my own quinceañera and prom dress.)  And fitness has never been about how you look on the outside, it is about taking care of your mind, body, and soul.

Later I would come to realize that while I was building Luna, I was also rebuilding myself.  From fabric sourcing and pattern making, to fittings and LA meetings with vendors and manufacturers, Luna came to life and so did I.

I did not attend design school.  I had zero experience in launching a lifestyle apparel brand.  I was not very social media savvy.  But I did have an unshakable passion for creating timeless and feminine pieces that make women feel strong and confident in their own skin.

As for the name Luna, I gave myself two simple rules.  1) It had to be short.  2) It had to be easy to pronounce in English and Spanish (Spanish was my first language; I didn’t learn English until I started school).  After countless hours of research and Googling, I came across the word Luna, which means moon in Spanish and Italian.  With my mom being from Mexico and my dad from Italy, Luna bridged both parts of my heritage.

Further into the research I learned the moon represents feminine energy and in Roman mythology, Luna was the divine personification of the moon.  I contemplated the name for a bit and then it hit me…. years ago my mom told me, “If you ever have a daughter, you should name her Luna.”  It was that memory that solidified the decision.

Luna represents strength, resilience and rising from the ashes.  It is a story of passion, finding yourself again, loving yourself and being able to get through all the tough moments life throws at you.  It is being grateful, believing in yourself, and having faith.

Thank you for being here, supporting this dream and sharing this journey with me.

Love,

Ambar
